Precision mechanic apprenticeship - our apprentice introduces himself

Hello, my name is David. I started my apprenticeship as a precision mechanic at Ilmberger in 2021. I came across Ilmberger on the Internet and after just one day of trial work I knew that I wanted to start my training as a precision mechanic here.

At the beginning of my apprenticeship, I learned the basics of machining such as turning, milling, sawing, thread cutting, filing, drilling, etc. I also learned about the special properties of metals. I also learned the basics of the special properties of metals. After the basic training, I had the opportunity to learn the basics in the milling and turning departments. We trainees are always in the individual departments for several months to get to know the respective areas and the machines in them. We are trained on the machines and are jointly responsible for all the work that arises, such as handling, retooling and maintaining the various machine types. At Ilmberger, there are many specialist areas, e.g. gear cutting, spiral gear cutting, grinding, turning, hardening, incoming and outgoing goods inspection, storage and also assembly in mechanical engineering. So far I've worked in assembly, dispatch and milling. I am currently working in the turning shop.

At vocational school, I am learning how to manufacture spacers in the subject of production technology, and I have already gained an insight into pneumatics and hydraulics in the subject of maintenance. A qualifying secondary school certificate is an advantage for the apprenticeship. If you want to learn the profession of precision mechanic, you should definitely have an interest in the subject, skill, diligence and motivation.

During my training, I will work in many interesting areas and learn how to operate and maintain machines, equipment and devices, plan and control work processes, check and evaluate the results of my work and much more. I really like the friendly relationship between my colleagues. My colleagues are always there to help me if I have any problems. I also find it very positive that I can already take on responsibility independently in certain areas at Ilmberger. With a successful apprenticeship, many paths are open to me for the future.

In my free time, I am an active member of FC Straubing and play soccer with great enthusiasm in the A-youth team.
